"Commentary" About rapid decline of decent TV shows on Cartonn Network/Adult Swim...

The rant about Canrtoon Network/ Adult Swim's stupidity begins...

okay, Bleach is no doubt one of my top 5 series for anime, and is probably the only ongoing anime series worth watching that airs on adult swim. No, Naruto isn't an adult swim show, it's on the cartoon network block. FMA has ended. It's not ongoing. Basically on Saturday Night The 1am to 2am timeblock EST is probably the only stuff worth watching anymore, Since they cant figure out a decent tv series to show other than Aqua Teen (which almost all of the episodes we've seen by now most likely...) and Family Guy (only no anime show worth watching imo...) and expect things on at 1am on the east coast to get halfway decent ratings...

This is why they keep bringing in more useless crud like Shinchan, oblongs, home movies and repeats of inyuasha weve all seen 20 times already, and are full aware that it ends right in the middle of a battle with a horse with its butt on fire with a wannabe chibi trunks riding it.

Oh and don't forget harvey birdman, whose humor died out after the first 5 seconds of losing brain cells that can be better wasted by bashing your head in with a frying pan... or simply an epic half hour series of constant *facepalms* after *facepalms*

Ghost in the shell is decent but not worth stopping from even grinding from endless hours of playing an rpg on the ps2 if they don't even have the intelligence to play the series in a linear order. I've literally seen the series play a section of the earlier episodes, then in the following week jump 10 or so episodes later. On three occasions in the past two years. Now we may know why veoh is feeling pretty safe right now from getting trust-raped by google for a while. (For those of you who don't know google presides over half of all of internet advertising... probably some of these ads here are as well. msn.com three less letter people lol...)

Quite honestly I'm not in the mood to have to resort to watching an endless loop of sportscenter, since I've seen just about every history/military/science channel hour long show worth mentioning.

Oh and just a forewarning for anyone who intends on watching Code Geass...
Code Geass is a big letdown, especially since I'm a big warfare-themed anime fan, so it's not really worth watching in my opinion. The main character is so ridiculous. I can't believe anyone actually published something with such a broken/uber/haxed/way too damn strong...
Basically... -> (his abilities along with his intelligence are way too good to make a decent or at the very least, legitimate main character). I hadn't heard of it until adult swim started advertising for it a few months ago, watched it... Is probably in my bottom five out of over 50 anime series I've seen all the way through, and bottom ten of those and the other 10-20 that i never finished.

Basically I'm just really sick of the stupid lineup changes adult swim thinks will actually increase viewership. If they hadn't noticed, they've only seen a steady increase of people going to youtube and veoh for amusement (among other things), because the line up keep getting crappier and causes people to be more likely to change the channel after the one hour of a four hour block worth even having on the tv is over.

Just saying... Anyone stateside, or gets adultswim/cartoon network probably knows what I mean... Getting tired of terrible shows being the only selection outside of educational ones for all but maybe one hour a night unles I want to see english re-runs of episodes ive seen in both english and japanese, with the first variety possibly a dozen times... (history channel is actually pretty sweet I have to say though... ^^)

Just trying to get a discussion started, since I'm going to have a lot of time on my hands, and the fact that we need some sort of thing other than our fellow users to yak at/about all the time. XD

Agreed completely. The only goodshows on Adult Swim are Death Note and Bleach. Family Guy would be one, if they didn't just whore out all the old eps.

Adult Swim is overrated
If you want anime, try the Anime Channel on Io. Majority of the shows suck, but its got insane ones in HD like Samurai 7
Besides that, I would try comedy central for the funny shows.

Yeah just bored and wanted to post some thoughts. Just trust me on Code Geass. It's probably the only anime I wish I hadn't wasted my time on, lol. I hoped it would have gotten a tad better but it didn't. Some of the eps I just closed and started modifying Civilization Iv scenarios instead. It's that lacking in a decent plot and characters are terrible, theyre essentially generic anime characters that fall into the stereotypical categories people who rip on anime put them in.

all i can say about this is...wait lol let me go a lil X_X lol first off ghost in the shell is a little bit hentai lol so to watch it on tv actually means its a censored or something...which will sux sooo much lol the uncensored version is the best so far....and about the whole cartoon network thingy lol i only watch that channel for dexters and johnny bravo...which is rarely on anyway T_T lol yes i love old school cartoons lol anyway i will really say dont borther watching american anime cos it sux X_X the dubbing is really bad sometimes anyway go watch NBC or the CW network lol they have the best tv shows and stuff

They stopped airing Cartoon Netwerk in the Netherlands almost 5 years ago I'd like watching DBZ and Gundam Wing and little cartoon series beside that, now Comedy Central took its place and it's also a nice channel to watch when you just wanna chill

Yepyep.. CN just dissapeared..D: and Comedy central is after nickelodeon now, wich nice since its the only channel here with decent shows..:/

All we have is nickelodeon(with comedy cantral)
and every nickelodeon show is dubbed in dutch(dutch dubbed are just sad):/
O and we have bobobo... yeah

Be happy you still can watch anime.. like bleach and death note.

ah, true! I totally forgot Nickelodeon, but we had that channel way back already :\ indeed.. dutch subs are very very VERY sad.. I can't stand watching those.. (Ned's Survival thingy for example)
Bobobo is too random for my liking xD
Anyway.. no wonder Veoh.com and youtube.com are getting more viewers when we can't get to see all the good stuff on tv anylonger :\

it's strange they change the series they air so much though :\ it would be more logical to continue series they have been airing already (like soaps or sumthing), because you already have people hooked on the characters and plots :\
